William Butler Yeats (1865 – 1939) is best described as Ireland’s national poet in addition to being one of the major twentieth-century literary figures of the English tongue. Today, although William Butler Yeats’s contribution to literary modernism and to Irish nationalism remains incontestable. Yeats is one of the finest literary figures of all time. I am a little prejudice, because he happens to be a favorite of mine. Regardless, he didn't win a Nobel prize because he was a hack.This book of poetry is from the period of time when he was moving from a more transcendental style of his youth, to a more physical and realistic style. It is part of a wonderful transition to say the least.
I think anyone who enjoys poetry, especially from one of the great masters, will enjoy this volume. The price is also right, so if you don't enjoy the writings of a wonderful mind, you can always delete it from your library.

Great read at night before bed or in the eve with a glass of wine. Can walk away from it at any point
I love Yeats so this was a wonderful read to me. I love that it is on my because I can reread it any time!
Obviously when reviewing W B Yeats it is almost pointless and certainly redundant to sing the praises of this great and one of the most prolific of the modern poets. Eliot published 5,000 lines of verse, W H Auden 32,000 lines of verse (but he allowed to be printed all of his verse unlike Eliot) and Yeats published 15,000 lines.
Why mention this? Yeats gives us a profound look at his poetry from his whimsical, pastoral period through his reinvention of Celtic myth to his latter days of more didactic and political (in the good sense) verse. This collection comprises verse written in the period that connects the last two. This is why it is such delightful collections.
